Grandpa loves a good sports analogy—and today’s lesson for Macie is all about timing and learning to see the court (or the ice, the field, the pitch… you get it)

It’s here! It’s here! Time for Grandpa’s Wisdom Wednesday!

“Hey Little One, Sometimes you lead. Sometimes you wait. Knowing when to do which? That’s how you play smart.”

In business—and life—timing is everything.

Sometimes you need a full-court press.

Sometimes you throw out the playbook, call your own number, and say, “Give me the ball!”

Other times? The smartest move is to read the field, stay patient, and let the game come to you.

I’ve done both.

And yep—I’ve also fumbled (keeping the theme!) by forcing the play… or waiting too long.

Let’s just say, experience keeps you humble—and fast on your feet.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

The best players don’t just move—they listen.

To the team. To the tempo. To the game as it’s unfolding.

When I’ve stayed present and patient, I’ve known when to take the shot—and when to pass.

✨ Whether you’re building a brand, launching a product, or leading a team—playing smart means knowing when to push, when to pivot, and when to pause.

And the GOATs? They read the game like it’s written just for them.

So… how are you reading your game today?
