Using my reference storyboards and notes, a story artist created a series of rough pencil sketches for each full-page spread to provide additional guidance for the illustrators. The sketches included the basic visual elements, their relative size and position, and the text layout of each page.
Seeing the first sketches was amazing, as I now had a book cover, a real storyboard, and the book’s final draft nearing completion.
Now it was getting real, very real!
