“I Love Space!” 🚀🐞
One of my favorite things about writing the Macieverse is building stories that work on multiple levels at the same time. (Something I’ve always loved about Pixar storytelling… of course Shrek 😉 …and now even Bluey too.)
Yes, my books are written for children.
But hidden throughout every story are little nods, references, and “inside smiles” meant for the adults reading them out loud.
This page from Macie and the Magic Rocket Seeds is just one example.
Most people will naturally focus on the storyline at the top:
🚀 “We need food in space, on the moon, and to get to Mars. Rocket Seeds prepare us for the journey to the stars.”
But tucked into the corner is a tiny ladybug (who also appears in every book) saying:
🐞 “I love space!”
For my space friends out there, you already know that little line is actually my tribute to the movie Gravity and Sandra Bullock’s character Ryan Stone saying:
“I hate space!”
I love the idea that years from now, some parent might suddenly realize:
“Wait… was that ladybug quoting Gravity this whole time?” 😂
And maybe that’s part of the magic of reading together.
Children and adults often experience the very same story in completely different ways…
But will grow closer through the shared experience.
That is important because the Macieverse was always meant to be more than books.
It’s designed to create conversations between generations.
To spark curiosity.
To make learning feel adventurous.
And to remind families that wonder is something we never outgrow.
More pages coming soon…
