The Passion Seed

Hello everyone,

On our journey through Leadership Seeds—Harvesting the Transformative Lessons of Macie and the Magic Veggies, it’s time for the next seed: the Passion Seed. Like the others we’ve explored (Growth, Gratitude, Content, Wisdom, Discovery), this seed plays a significant role in our leadership journey as it emphasizes the importance of embracing passion in our work and inspiring others through our personal dedication and enthusiasm.

A line from the story: Walking through a field so green, her veggies in a line, Farmer Lundyn smiles at Macie, pointing to a sign.

In Macie and the Magic Veggies, Farmer Lundyn proudly showcases her lush fields, emphasizing nature’s beauty and sharing her passion for nurturing it with Macie. This scene captures the contagious nature of passion in one’s accomplishments, reflecting how positive feelings can inspire and motivate others. {This is reinforced by the message on the sign, but you’ll have to read the book to learn the secret!) It’s a helpful reminder that when we are passionate about our work, it encourages those around us to do the same.

I once worked with a team that faced countless internal obstacles but produced outstanding work despite the roadblocks. I believed strongly in our team’s work and desired to showcase it to the organization, so with a supportive boss who shared my “ask for forgiveness” approach, I hopped on a plane to attend an award competition.

I brought back the award, and we even made a video about winning it to share our pride throughout the organization. The passion each team member felt in their contributions created a ripple effect, fostering a stronger, more motivated team.

Here are a few ways to plant and nurture the Passion Seed within your leadership style and organizational culture:

Celebrate Accomplishments
Recognize and celebrate both small and large achievements within your team. This acknowledgment fosters a sense of passion and motivates continued excellence.

Showcase Success
Create opportunities to showcase the work of your team members. Highlighting successes through internal presentations, newsletters, or social media can inspire passion and set a benchmark for others.

Lead by Example
Demonstrate passion in your work and in your team’s accomplishments. Your enthusiasm and dedication will be contagious, encouraging others to embrace passion in their contributions.

As we continue exploring the Macieverse through these Leadership Seeds, let’s remember that inspiring passion can drive personal and organizational success. There is power in standing up for your accomplishments!

💬 I’d love to hear how you inspire passion within yourself and your teams. What strategies have you found effective in fostering a culture of passion and motivation?

Let’s grow together in passion! 🥕🍅🥦
